ARTIST STATEMENT
Through photography, I seek to preserve the cultural essence of underrepresented communities, particularly within Black and Brown spaces, where histories and identities are often at risk of erasure. My work serves as a bridge between the past and the present, capturing lived experiences that evoke memory, pride, and connection to heritage.
By placing my work in spaces that are deeply connected to the community, I aim to foster self-appreciation, generate meaningful dialogue, and create opportunities for economic growth among local businesses. In an era saturated with imagery and information, it is more important than ever to uphold narratives that authentically reflect cultural identity.
My approach extends beyond documentation—I engage in a visual dialogue that examines how imagery influences self-perception and communal psychology. Through lens-based storytelling, I strive to establish a visual bond that resonates across generations, reinforcing a shared history while expanding the conversation around representation, place, and belonging.
Cocktail hour at 5pm, salon concert starts at 6pm, followed by a reception with the artists.
Location: Ronin Harrisburg, 3501 Harrisburg Blvd, Houston, TX 77003
