Born of Trinidadian roots, Chef Tristen Epps is a James Beard Nominated and Michelin recognized chef that traces his interest in cooking back to his childhood, which was spent traveling the globe with his active military mother. Postings in Guam, Japan and the Philippines helped fuel his passion for international flavor; even as a youngster, he immersed himself in the food culture wherever they landed, developing his nuanced globally influenced palate while also giving homage to his Afro-Caribbean style upbringing.
Since that time, he has cooked all over the United States and on three continents, continuing to expand his knowledge and ardor for new flavors. While being recognized by the Michelin Guide, named among the Top 12 Best New Restaurants in the World by Condé Nast Traveler personal accolades followed, as he was named a Rising Star Chef by Star Chefs of America in 2021, Top 20 Under 40 Most Professional in Miami by Brickell Magazine in 2022, and 40 under 40 Black Professionals by Legacy Magazine in 2023. You can also see Tristen as a Chopped champion of Food Network and the hit shows such as Iron Chef, Best Thing I Ever Ate, and others.
Chef Tristen has recently moved back to Houston with the goal of sharing his experiences with his new concept Buboy: A modern tasting menu of Afro-Carib influence in one of the most diverse cities in this country.

The Contamination of Meanings
By Leslie Cruz
Artist Statement
I began my journey in art with a mission to raise awareness about sex trafficking and abuse, deeply moved by the plight of the vulnerable. With a strong background in humanitarian work, I have always been driven to make a difference. My passion for art is deeply rooted in my commitment to helping children and being the person I needed during my own tumultuous childhood. Art saved me, providing an outlet for self-expression and healing when I needed it most. This personal experience inspired me to create an art program specifically for kids, giving them a safe space to express themselves through creativity. My art mission is selfless, focused entirely on being a voice for children who may not yet have the strength to speak out for themselves. My approach is two-fold: being the mentor I needed as a child and developing individualized programs tailored to each child’s unique needs. I believe in understanding and addressing what each child requires, rather than imposing a one-size-fits-all solution. This dedication to personalized support ensures that every child can find solace and growth through art, just as I did. Through my work, I aim to capture the hearts and minds of my audience, offering a profound glimpse into my life’s mission. My art is not just about creating beautiful pieces but about communicating a deeper, more impactful message. I invite you to join me in this journey, to support and understand the powerful role art can play in healing and empowering the next generation.
A portion of the proceeds will go to the Classically Black Arts Foundation.

SUPA NOVA
By: Robert Leroy Hodge
Artist Statement
The phenomenon of a supernova, a star's magnificent and final explosion, serves as a powerful metaphor in my latest series, "Supa Nova." A supernova occurs when a star reaches the culmination of its life cycle, erupting in a spectacular burst of light that can momentarily outshine entire galaxies and emit more energy than our sun will over its entire lifespan. These cosmic events are not only awe-inspiring in their brilliance but also essential to the universe's evolution, as they are the primary source of the heavy elements that form the building blocks of life.
In "Supa Nova," I draw upon this celestial metaphor to honor and highlight individuals whose vision and dedication to their respective fields have profoundly impacted my life and reshaped my understanding of community, sacrifice, honor, duty, and respect. Like supernovas, these remarkable figures have illuminated the world around them, leaving an indelible mark on those fortunate enough to witness their brilliance. Through this series, I seek to celebrate their contributions and explore the transformative power of their legacies.

Echoes of the Horizon: HumanxNature as Technology
Curated by Janice Bond of ART IS BOND
This exhibition brings together a spectrum of artists, each deeply attuned to the essence of place, providing intimate glimpses into landscapes that have profoundly shaped their identities. These works foster a meaningful dialogue between inner worlds and external forces while commemorating the harmonious interplay between the technological and the organic.
Nature and human form reemerges as a sophisticated form of technology, challenging conventional perspectives. The horizon, serving as a metaphor for unlimited potential, becomes a canvas for introspective exploration and artistic revelation. Echoes of the Horizon is odyssey of contemplation, innovation, and the profound beauty that envelops us, celebrating the symbiosis of technology and nature in the intricate dance between Human and Nature.
